You know how it is in those coming-of-age television shows and movies, when the characters have those life-changing, life-defining moments? The ones that make them go, “This is who I am” and “That is when I knew my place in the world”? Those moments of complete success or euphoria or love that are so intense that nothing will ever be the same again for them? We keep getting told by fiction that we’re supposed to have those moments, but it never really quite goes that way in real life.
Maybe that’s the reason why we’re this entire generation of people having these ridiculous quarter-life crises, because we feel like we haven’t lived enough, that we haven’t lived up to that perfect-movie-ending image.
And I wonder if any of us will get those moments.
