A little food for thought…
other things become ugly.
When people see some things as good,
other things become bad.
Being and non-being create each other.
Difficult and easy support each other.
Long and short define each other.
High and low depend on each other.
Before and after follow each other.
Therefore the Master
acts without doing anything
and teaches without saying anything.
Things arise and she lets them come;
things disappear and she lets them go.
She has but doesn’t possess,
acts but doesn’t expect.
When her work is done, she forgets it.
That is why it lasts forever.
Tap Tap Birdie
This morning is by far probably the best morning since starting my job. Woke up an hour before my normal time of waking up, huge plus, it wasn't as hot as a usual summer morning in LA is. On the train I continued my effort to read through Walden. I've probably been trying to read in for about 6 months! Ever since we read about him in my English Composition class my first semester of 11th grade with Mr. Dunlavey. (Huge thanks to him for introducing great authors like Thoreau and Dickinson btw :) And today I ran into a new quote:
"...for your houses are such unwieldy property that we are often
pg. 21
imprisoned rather than housed in them; and the bad neighborhood to be avoided is our own scurvy selves."
That's probably my new life quote. So true how a majority are able to live they're life at home and never get out or experience new things in life. As much as it bothers me, I'm one of those people. But I am convinced people can change and so can lifestyles. I want adventure and for a while, adventure hasn't come to me, so I'm going to it!
Its amazing how a man was able to come up with all of this all by doing what no one else was able to do; seclude himself from everything, everyone. To be able to do that must take a lot of effort. He created a home way from civilisation, away from any huge population area.
I wonder if I would be able to do the same. I doubt it. We're like mice chained to the cheese; the world being our cheese. We have become formed and shaped into having these ideas that we "need" to live a life of complicity and labor. I refuse to become one of those people. Everyone is capable of creating a new life for themselves, just because certain people live a certain way does not entitle you to have a similar way of living.
After grasping a new point of view of life I walked the slow short walk from Union Station to the Bus Line, on the way there i heard an uplifting song that made my day a bit better. Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours." Perfect. Perfect book, perfect song, everything was going good :)
So i bumped ways with a homeless person; whom i had seen the day before, asking for money for food. I gave him my spare change and tomorrow i hope to give him some type of food. i was pretty low on food today, sorry. I know people always say that homeless people are people who are well enough to work and very capable of getting a job, but as a young adult, i realize that finding a job and getting back on your feet is a hold easier said than done. True, it does require work and a lot of dedication, but don't people deserve some type of compensation for at least trying? As long as it doesn't kill me, I'm okay with helping out and lending a hand.
I meet an interesting person today waiting for the bus.
My usual retinue mean feeding the birds while i wait for the 484 @ 8:05. Today i had a little bit of competition. I was early on judging and automatically came up with the conclusion that a Chinese-smoker was someone to stay away from. But I noticed that he began to feed the birds! :o at that point I was just shocked. I mean THIS guy was stealing my job! Ruining my so far-so good day. So I was finally caught staring...More of a shocker, he offered me a cracker to feed the pigeons!! So we began to feed the birdies and I learned that this man always does this, every morning, because it reminds him of his chickens in Mexico. A Mexican Chinese! Okay....that was enough of a good start to me.
I'm always bumping into weridos downtown but to finally meet someone who's normal and down to earth and SIMPLE. As my definition of normal is probably a bit different than that of others. It made me feel like I wasn't the only one out there. He probably doesn't know it but he possibly made my day.
This reminds me of how i felt such a long time ago. Gosh have i come a long way from then! It feels like a wh
ole 'nother life. Looking back, I'm glad things turned out the way they are, everything is much better now! Shocking, if my 6th grade self were to tell me things would end up like this, i would have smacked her and told her to go to H; I'm glad i was
wrong.

Eleven Hints for Life
1. It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return.
But what is more painful is to love someone and never
find the courage to let that person know how you feel.
2. A sad thing in life is when you meet someone who
means a lot to you, only to find out in the end that it was
never meant to be and you just have to let go.
3. The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a
porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away
feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had.
4. It’s true that we don’t know what we’ve got until we lose
it, but it’s also true that we don’t know what we’ve been
missing until it arrives.
5. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an
hour to like someone, and a day to love someone-but it
takes a lifetime to forget someone.
6. Don’t go for looks, they can deceive. Don’t go for wealth,
even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you
smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day
seem bright.
7. Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go,
be what you want to be. Because you have only one life and
one chance to do all the things you want to do.
8. Always put yourself in the other’s shoes. If you feel that it
hurts you, it probably hurts the person too.
9. A careless word may kindle strife. A cruel word may wreck
a life. A timely word may level stress. But a loving word may
heal and bless.
10. The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best
of everything they just make the most of everything that comes
along their way.
11. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, ends with
a tear. When you were born, you were crying and everyone
around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die,
you’re the one smiling and everyone around you is crying.- Author Unknown

Coffee Filter Flowers
Materials and Tools:
basket-style coffee filters (3-5 filters per flower)food coloring wooden skewerfloral tapetacky glueultrafine glittersequinsscissorswaterbuckets or bowls for food coloringold newspapers paper towelsrubber gloves
Steps:1. Fill the buckets or bowls with water and add food coloring to make a dye bath. Be generous with the food coloring: the filters dry much lighter in color than they appear when wet.
2. Separate the coffee filters and place them in the dye baths. Remove them quickly for a lighter shade, or leave them in longer for a darker color.
3. Once the desired shade is achieved, remove the filters from the dye bath, wearing rubber gloves, and squeeze out the excess dye. Place wet filters on a paper towel with newspapers or waxed paper underneath and allow to dry.
4. To make petals, fold each filter to make a half-circle. Fold again to make a quarter-pie shape, or wedge. Fold the filter twice more to make a narrow wedge. Using scissors, cut a curve or spike shape 1/2' from the edge of the wide end. You don’t want to cut the narrow end because that will create a large hole in the center of the petals. You can cut many shapes in the wide end to create different looks; just experiment. Repeat this step for as many flowers (3-5 petals per flower) as needed. 5. Open the cut filters and lay flat. Embellish with ultrafine glitter and/or sequins glued to the filters. Once the embellishments are dry, layer the petals on top of one another. The top layer will be the inside petals of the flowers and the bottom layer will be the outer petals of the flowers. Poke the skewer through the first petal, gather the petal to the end of the skewer, twist the base of the petal around the skewer and secure with floral tape. Keep adding layers until the flower is full.
6. Wrap the skewer with the green floral tape to secure the flower and create a decorative stem.

vintage or new buttons in a variety of colors and sizessmall beads in colors to coordinate with buttonswide elastic band scissorsneedle and thread
Steps:
1. Cut a piece of the elastic long enough for a snug fit around your wrist with a 1/2-inch overlap.
2. Select a variety of buttons and decide how to arrange them on the elastic; overlap a few if you want to give the bracelet more dimension. Leave room to sew the overlapping edges of elastic together.
3. Stitch the buttons in place securely. Tip: Tie the stitches off between the buttons and the elastic instead of on the back of the elastic to keep the knots from rubbing against your wrist. Let some of the buttons hang over the edge of the elastic and top some buttons off with beads. Finally, stitch the ends of the elastic together

It's already the 7th of July! I can't believe it. My bday came and went faster than i could say Shiatsu! ahaha... yesterday was an off day. i didn't see that family gathering coming! sad how the most important people weren't there. 5 days left. I'm preparing myself for the worst hoping it turns out better than i want. That usually never works. Damn i hate rash decision. Especially when they are coming form the people i love the most!!!!! Life is anything BUT fair!
Work kinda sucks! My partner isn't exactly the funnest person alive but...mmm guess I'm going to have to stick with him. As for everything else, f@$^ it! Shove it with a stick down a 475,464,999 feet hole. People change, lie, and kiss a$$. Doesn't that encourage you to meet new people?? Not me. No thanks.
